Often the job of admin, picking a hotel for your workforce to stay in can be a minefield if you don’t give the decision enough consideration. You can head to a online travel agent (OTA) such as LateRooms and pick the cheapest, but that can leave your workforce disgruntled and sending you angry emails because they’re having to share a bathroom with 7 drunk teenagers or because the property doesn’t have parking.

You can use our checklist below to make sure the place you book leaves all parties happy:

  1. Don’t head straight to an OTA, Google ‘Contractor Accommodation In Newquay‘ or ‘Contractor Accommodation In Newquay‘. Corporate accommodation providers in that area, who will be suited to your needs, will have pages on their website with all the info you need. This is where you’ll find them.Google Logo
  2. Head to TripAdvisor to check the best value hotel in that area. TripAdvisor uses ratings and a price checker to work out the best value hotel in an area. Good corporate hotels will be ranked in the top 5 best value hotels.Best Value Hotel
  3. Make sure the hotel has private rooms with private en-suite bathrooms.sunnyside_0635-0080
  4. Choose a hotel with customer parking (and double check they have availability for parking).Exterior 2
  5. Make sure the hotel serves breakfast, and make sure they serve it before the time you need to leave for work. If not, ask if the hotel can provide a take-away breakfast.facilities_brekfast
  6. Choose a hotel with 24 hour desk and check-in/check-out. You never know what time your guys are going to be arriving/departing.Welcome! Our front desk
  7. Make sure the hotel is close to local amenities. No one wants to have to jump in the car and drive 10 minutes to grab a bite to eat or pick up a newspaper.

  8. If they have less than a 3 star rating on TripAdvisor, that spells trouble. If they have a 5 star rating, it’s likely they’ll be too expensive or they have fake reviews. If they don’t have TripAdvisor at all, stay clear, it’ll be for a reason!TA - 2013 certificate
  9. Wifi. If the hotel you’ve chosen doesn’t have wifi, you can guarantee yourself some negative energy in your direction! In this digital age, there a few that can go 10 minutes without wifi, let alone a whole day!Wifi
  10. Price. Quite simply, 9 times out of 10, if you choose a hotel that is pricey, your superiors are going to come knocking. Once you’ve scouted the top few contractor hotels in the area, do a quick price check. But remember, who is going to be more annoyed, your boss because you went for the option that was £3 extra, or your guys on the ground because that £3 saving means they have to share a bathroom, do without wifi and pay for parking in a car park 10 minutes walk from the hotel?£ sign
